Rectangular cutout

For a rectangular cutout please first select Insert > Rectangular cutout and place the object. In the subsequent dialog box "Rectangular cutout properties", you can then determine all the desired properties.

What is a "Rectangular cutout"?

A rectangular cutout is formed when the area of a geometric rectangle is completely cut out from the main plate. With a rectangular cavity, the material is only removed up to a certain depth.

Special shapes

In the dialog box "Rectangular cutout properties" you cannot only configure a rectangle, but also trapezoids with all their special shapes as well as triangles (Illustrations).

Rectangular hole properties

After placing the object you can set the following variables for the required rectangular cutout in the properties dialog box:

Variable

Description

Width

Width of the rectangular cutout

Height

Height of the rectangular cutout

Corner radius

Inner radii of the 4 corners of the rectangular cutout

Angle of rotation

Rotation angle of the rectangular cutout around its reference point

Tool

Tool with which the inner contour of the rectangular cutout (possibly to finalize) is created, whereby the smallest possible radius of the contour can be set if necessary

Angle left

0 degrees

Angle right

Triangle

Remove check or leave box unchecked

Edge machining >>>

The option of producing one or both edges of the rectangular cutout with either a bevel or a rounding (details).

Do not produce object

If you do not want to produce a rectangular cutout, but to place it on the front panel for information purposes only - for example as a marker -  then check this box.

Trapezoid cutout properties

After placement of the object and definition of a rectangular cutout as the starting configuration in the properties dialog box, you can set the following additional variables (marked in white) to determine the required trapezoid cutout:

Variable

Description

Angle left

Angle of the variable left sideline to the fixed sideline of the original rectangle

Angle right

Angle of the variable right sideline to the fixed sideline of the original rectangle

Triangle

Remove check or leave box unchecked

Edge machining >>>

The option of producing one or both edges of the trapezoid cutout with either a bevel or a rounding (details).

Do not produce object

If you do not want to produce a rectangular cutout, but to place it on the front panel for information purposes only - for example as a marker -  then check this box.

Triangular cutout properties

After placement of the object and definition of a rectangular cutout as the starting configuration in the properties dialog box, you can set the following additional variables (marked in white) to determine the required triangular cutout:

Variable

Description

Angle left

Angle of the left sideline to the sideline of the original rectangle

Angle right

Angle is set by the program so that the bottom-right corner always lies on the line connecting the lower left and the upper right corners.

Triangle

Check box

Edge machining >>>

The option of producing one or both edges of the triangular cutout with either a bevel or a rounding (details).

Do not produce object

If you do not want to produce a rectangular cutout, but to place it on the front panel for information purposes only - for example as a marker -  then check this box.

Cutouts with free contours

To obtain circular or elliptical cutouts in particular, please use the option of creating free contours based on DXF files.
