Still getting my feet wet with this software..

I need to mount a number of switches on a panel.

The heads of the switches are much larger than the cutouts.

It would be very easy for me to make a mistake and place them too close together.

Is there a way to show an outline that would represent the max dims of the switch head and not have that actually be a part of the panel itself? Something like a "comment" layer?

    Currently... No.

I been asking for this for at least 2 years.

I thought about using an engraving object, but then I'd have to remember to ungroup everything and delete those before ordering, which would be risky, and I'm not sure if you can actually ungroup like that.

You can work with engraving objects and only group those together. You can also use an hpgl import as additional "layer." The latter is easy to delete.

I admit that this is inconvenient and a rather painful workaround. We will try to get this taken care of without another wait of two years.

    Kind regards,
