Shippers not in drop down list
I don't directly order my front panels. When I installed the 4.0 version I no longer see a drop down list for shippers. Do I have to enter in some information to see this list? I use this to estimate what I need to do to get my pannels on time.

Hi Tim,
You need to enter your profile data first. We estimate the shipping cost based on zip code and country.

Hi Tom,
You can find the template in Front Panel Designer's macro objects. It is in the SubD connector category and is called 15-pole.

Create island in cavity?
I need to have a circular island in a cavity. That is, if I'm starting with 4mm material, I need to have a rectangular area milled down 2mm but have a circle in the middle still up to full height. Can I do this with a circle-in-rectangle cavity (depth of 2.0mm but inner depth of 0.0mm)?
If this won't work, is there a way to do this, other than carving out a bunch of cavities around the island which will end up only kind-of circular?
Thanks

Hello Ted,
You describe exactly the function of the object 'circle in rectangle cavity'.
The rectangle will be milled as a pocket and will leave the circle in the center as island.
You also can have the center milled down to a lower depth (let's say in your example to a depth of 1mm). In this case you would need to place a second 1 mm deep circular cavity on top of the island. The depth of all cavities is always absolute to the material surface not to another cavity.
And if you don't want the circle centered to the rectangle you only need to wait until April 12. Our new version of Front Panel Designer will offer an offset for the island. You will be able to move it in X and Y within the cavity.
The new version 4.0 can be downloaded from our website next Monday, April 12. It will be available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

Object Properties Gone
This has happened before, I'll load up a project I'd been working on and the Object Properties window is gone. I can't get it back by selecting the menu item in the View menu. This is annoying because the only way to view an object's position, other than that window, is the "Move/Rotate" dialog. How do I get my Object Properties window back?

Hello Matt,
I think the object property window is still there but no longer visible on your screen.
You should get it back with the shortcut 'Crtl + O'. If this doesn't work you need to modify your screen resolution to get it back in the visible area.
We are sorry for the inconvenience and you are definitely right, this is very annoying.
Our new version FPD4 won't have this issue. Release is in two weeks on April 12.

ReplyThanks Diane,
I have indeed relocated my PC temporarily to a workstation with a smaller monitor than my office one, so the property window is probably off-screen. Looking forward to version 4. (Just curious, will it include an 'enclosure wizard'?)

ReplyHi Matt,
Sorry, no enclosure wizard this time. Version 4.0 focuses on dxf imports of inner and outer contours.
Coming next will be the ability to choose material thicknesses up to 10mm and powder coating finish.

housing bracket dimensions
I need to use an inner panel in my enclosure to hang a potentiometer and I am planning to use housing brackets to fix it to the enclosure.
What are the dimensions of the bracket?
Thanks
Gianluca
