Use customer’s material
I have nearly completed a design for two blank panels which I have. How do I send these two blank panels to you so that they can be connected with the Front Panel Express design I create for them? Do I send the panels with a CD copy of my FPD files?
Thank you! :D

Just place the order with our program and add the confirmation (reference) number to your panels when sending to us.
If you want to send the panels before placing the order, we can also match order files and material with your address. A CD is not necessary.
Best regards
Diane

Bending
Is it possible for a small panel to be bent so that I could order end panels for a small enclosure that provide a right angle mounting tab?

Object properties shows millimeters and inches
In the version 3.5 software, why does the "Object Properties" dialog display X and Y in inches even when the rest of the units (such as height and width) are shown in millimeters? this makes designing a lot more work than it needs to be as I have to constantly convert units back and forth using a calculator.
Thanks,
PeterM

Peter,
There is indeed an inconsistency within the 'Object Properties' regarding inches and millimeters. A mixup in dimension units happens if they are changed during the design. The properties of an individual object stay in the unit which was active when placed on the panel. Changing dimension units in the 'Edit Menu' doesn't affect already existing objects. We will look into this for future versions.
We are sorry for the inconvenience and would like to thank you for pointing that out.
Thank you,
Diane

User settings not stored by software?
Is the ability to choose millimeters or inches as the standard measuring unit working in the version 3.5 software? Every time I go into Edit->Settings, I choose "millimeter" from the "Grid Distance X" dropdown box, click "Set as Default" and then hit "OK". When I open the settings dialog again, everything is back to inches. I looked in the registry for where the program would store these settings, but only found entries for the positions of the various dialogs and windows. Are these settings actually being stored somewhere?
Thanks,
PeterM

Peter,
The measuring unit can be defined at Edit -> Settings -> Other. Here you can choose between inches and millimeters and set it as default. The grid settings are subordinated to what was defined in 'Others'. Reason is, that you can't have the grid in millimeters and the standard measuring in inches.
A faster way to switch between metric and standard if needed, is to click on the dimension unit in the bottom left-hand corner of the status bar.
Best regards,
Diane

PayPal Payment?
Hello,
I have a front panel designed and was wondering do you accept PayPal as a form of payment. I don't have a credit-card and would prefer to use the USPS for shipping as UPS to Australia gets pretty expensive and I have had loads of stuff sent via USPS with no problems.
Regards,

Dear Robert,
Thank you for your note. We do not accept PayPal. However, we do accept the following credit cards - Visa, MasterCard and American Express. In addition, we will accept international bank transfers with an additional fee of $35.00.
There is no problem with shipping your package to you via USPS. Simply make a notation on your order before submitting it to us.
Kind regards,
Karen

ReplyBugger, I was hoping you would accept PayPal, I don't have a credit card and use PayPal's eCheque facility to draw the finds direct from my account.

ReplyAfter 6 months I believe you can order a Debit card through Paypal.
You can then transfer enough to cover the FPE fronts to paypal. Problem solved!
Good luck!

Can I set the point where a threaded thru-hole starts being threaded ?
Hello,
I would like to know if it's possible within fpd to set the place at which the threading in a threaded thru-hole begins.
As you can see the reason for this is that with standard thread orientation my XLR socket when fully screwed in is 125 degrees out of alignment. I am using a Vista OS so don't have access to the front panel designer help files.
any help appreciated :)

Hello Douglas,
Unfortunately, setting the place where the thread starts is not possible.
I would suggest that you just pick a drilled hole for the panel and use a nut to tighten the socket. In this way, you can assure that is has the right angle.
Best Regards,
Diane
