I could not find the way to make the cutout for the b***ons like on the attached photo. Could you give me a hint?

Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately our machines cannot make a curved (cupped) cavity. Only thing we can do is machine a cavity with 90 degree sides. If you have any other questions email us at email@example.com

I was curious to know more about the manufacturing process, specifically about the anodized aluminum. If I used Front Panel Designer to build an anodized aluminum front panel for an enclosure, does the panel get re-anodized after the engraving? Or do you anodize the panel after engraving? I would like to avoid having the raw metal exposed.
Also, am I able to specify depth when we are engraving text? I didn't see it in the application, am I able to request a specific depth when I order?

Thank you for your questions.
Our material arrives pre anodized so the outside edges and any cutouts or engravings we do will show as raw aluminum. We do not do any anodizing in house. You can choose to infill your engravings with the colors in the software if that helps. For the outside edges and interior cutouts the only way to cover the raw aluminum is to have your panel powdercoated.
The max depth we can do engravings is .6mm deep. All text designed using the .2mm tool will be machined .2mm deep, any text designed using the .4mm tool will be machined .4mm deep and any text tool .6mm and higher will be machined .6mm deep.
If you want a custom depth for engravings you will have to import your text as a .dxf file and choose to mill as 'cavity' in the properties screen and input the depth you want.

I've always set my panel design's material properties to clear Perspex, so that any test prints of designs I do come out in black and white.
For some reason, the panels are now printing with a grey shade instead of being white when printing them, which I thought would be expected for clear perspex, and is what used to happen.
What's changed? Can't work out what I've done. Tried different printers etc. Cheers.

Just a suggestion - many of us have stringent IT policies that mean new versions of software must be white listed before installed, and this process can take weeks if not months. The ability to import a current pricing file would be a huge help.
Thanks for the consideration.

I will forward your suggestion to our developers. In the meantime you can utilize our webshop if you need to get accurate up to date pricing:
Just drag your .fpd file into the FPD UPLOAD dialog window.
Have a good one.

No that's perfect - all I needed was an ability to get accurate pricing to purchasing. Thank you!

I take an Autocad .dwg file, open it in ABViewer, then save it as an HPGL (.plt) file. When I try to import it as an HPGL engraving, the preview window shows it as a bunch of lines going every which way.

Sorry you are having issues with your file. Can you email us your AutoCad file so I can see if I can correct it?
Email is email@example.com

I've used FPD for years on a PC and have now migrated to running FPD v.6.21 on a new MacBook Pro. My latest front panel design has text engraving on the panel. The text includes an apostrophe (the text is "Engineer's Amp"). Curiously, while the text shows properly in the text box, in both the preview window and on the panel FPD converts the apostrophe to a question mark (i.e., "Engineer?s Amp"). The conversion cannot be corrected.
What's going on?
