4.5.1
4.5.1 ordering program hangs on quit
Posted By: Josh on Jun 28, 2016 02:52AM Category: Ordering
Hello Josh,
We have not heard of this issue recently. Can you re-download and install the latest version of our Front Panel Designer from our homepage?
If the problem persists, please provide us with more information and we will try to resolve it.
We will need to know:
What operating system are you using? Which version of the operating system?
Do you get an error message?
What exactly happens? It just freezes?
Does it happen in the ordering program or the Front Panel Designer or both?
At what step during the ordering process?
I am confident we can make the Front Panel Designer work again on your system.
Thank you!
Kind regards,

Clicking on Pop-Up Menus in FPD 4.5.1
Gentleones,
In FPD v4.5.1 for Mac OS X, it is no longer to click on the body text of pop-up menus in dialogs to trigger the menu. (E.g., the countersink pop-up menu in the insert hole dialog.) Instead, I must click on the arrow portion of the pop-up menu. This behavior is different than version 4.4 and makes 4.5.1 much more difficult to use.
(It looks like the type of user interface element changed from one in a rounded rect with a double arrow at the end to a combination text field with a b***on on the end. I've never seen one like it before.)
Can you please revert the control type in the next update?
Thanks,

Hello Bill,
Thank you for letting us know about your issue. The underlying framework (wxWidgets) we use for the Front Panel Designer has been updated and that has changed the behavior of the mentioned pop-up menu.
We are also not happy with how the pop-up menu works now on OS X and will look for a solution so it reverts to the old behavior in a future version.
Kind regards,

ReplyThanks for letting me know. Good luck in finding a better solution!

Inside corners on DXF import
Hello, how do I go about creating the cutting tool bump-outs for the inside corners of a DXF import shape? Do I need to draw the corner bump-outs manually in my drawing before import into FPE?

Hello Greg,
Thank you for contacting Front Panel Express with your inquiry.
You can either design your cutouts with the 'bump-out' zero corner radius corners in your CAD software and then import the cutouts as a free contour .dxf or you can use the 1mm drill hole tool and place the cutouts on the corners manually. Either way will work.
Please don't hesitate to contact our customer service directly if you have more questions.
Best regards,

cavities
If I place a large cavity on the front side and a smaller cavity inside it on the back side, the back side cavity is not visible on the drawing.
Also, the instructions to globally change to inch units do not seem to workPosted By: Clark Hamilton on Jun 15, 2016 11:46PM Category: Front Panel Designer
Hello Clark,
Your are correct that the backside cavity is not visible. You can see it by clicking CTRL+D on your keyboard or clicking on 'View' then 'Outline mode'.
For the global change to inches please make sure you select inches in the Units and inches in the 'Grid distance' in 'Settings'. Also select 'set as default' and click ok. Please see the attached screenshot of how it should be setup.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if something is not clear or if you have more questions.
Kind regards,

Keyboard Not Functioning Correctly
Gentleones,
I cannot use "M" to set coordinates manually, I cannot use "1"-"4" to select the snap mode, and I cannot use the number pad keys to set the origin.
Other keys work: "A" selects the ruler, "space" clears the tool, Shift-G makes a group, and so on.
I have tried booting in "safe boot" mode and the problem persists.
I'm using FPD v4.5.1 and OS X 10.11.5.
This problem makes the program unusable.
Thanks,

Hello Bill,
Thank you for letting us know, our IT department found that there seems to be a bug which exists only in the Mac version of the software. The shortcuts are not working when the tool is selected with the mouse via the tool bar. If it is selected via the menu bar or with a shortcut the shortcuts are working well.
We are sorry for this and will have a fix for the bug in the next version, which will be available soon. Until then please use the menu bar to select the tool.
Kind regards,

ReplyThanks, Fabian. Looking forward to the fix.
