  • Cavity within a cavity

I need to create a rectangular cavity 40mm x 60mm that is 5mm deep in 10mm thick material. (That much is easy.) Now within that cavity, I would like to have another smaller rectangular cavity 20mm x 30mm that is an additional 3mm deep and also has edge machining (rounded edge 1.5mm radius) applied to it. This brings up some questions. How do I specify the smaller cavity depth in Front Panel Designer? Is it with respect to the top surface of the panel (in which case it should be 8mm) or is it with respect to the bottom of the larger cavity (in which case it should be 3mm)? Also, how do I know that the machining on the edge of the smaller cavity will be applied to the edge that is 5mm deep within the first cavity? In other words, how do I make sure the larger cavity is cut first, then the smaller one, then the edging on the smaller one? This same question applies to a similar situation with a through hole inside a cavity. Can I specify edge machining on a through hole sitting inside a cavity?

  • Problem Importing .plt file

I am trying to import a .plt file but when I click import it doesn't show anything in preview or afterwards on my panel. Is there something I am doing wrong?

  • Removeable top without removing any side profiles.

Is there a case where I can just remove the top only? I don't want to removed any side profiles of front panels or corner brackets.

  • Step file output

It would be great to have the ability to output a 3D step model.

    Thanks,

  • Grid Lines, Font Colors, Tools, Ect.

Hello, I have a few questions please.

1.When I create a new 19" 2U panel, it always lands on uneven grid lines. How can I get the grid lines to line up with the panel edges?

2.When I create a new panel, is it best to manually enter 19" x 3.5" or let the auto config do it?

    3. Do you have some large bright examples of Bright White and Signal Gray? I'm having a hard time deciding which to use because I cant see the true detailed look. I don't want the letters too dim yet I don't want the panel to look like a bright black and white Oreo cookie either :)

4.I'm choosing the Euro 5 lettering and the .02 engraving tool and on my screen,it looks like the engraving lines will show in the lettering. I want it to look solid with no lines, if I choose another font or tool, I loose the look i want. Is this the case for the actual finished results? Thanks so much!

  • !mm Etched and Anodised

    Hi,

I am looking for a 1mm thick panel to cover a plastic enclosure. Front designer rejects this. Can you provide 1mm thick panels ?

Is your natural aluminium finish the common etched and anodised finish ?

I am unfamiliar with the laser engraved legends. They may suit my product but is anodised photo marking and option.

    Many thanks,
