Still getting my feet wet with this software..

I need to mount a number of switches on a panel.

The heads of the switches are much larger than the cutouts.

It would be very easy for me to make a mistake and place them too close together.

Is there a way to show an outline that would represent the max dims of the switch head and not have that actually be a part of the panel itself? Something like a "comment" layer?

  • Sloped enclosure?

Can you fabricate a sloped enclosure, similar to the Hammond 1456 series? Imagine something maybe 8" wide, perhaps 1.5" at the front (toward the user) and a 10- or 15-degree slope up so the back is higher? I would like the top and back to be at a right angle, making the angle between the bottom and the back 80 or 75 degrees depending on slope. The Hammond boxes have the bottom-to-back angle at 90 degrees.

The idea is to mount a PCB from the top (sloped) panel with connectors coming out the back. Using the Hammond box with the 80-degree angle between the top and back means that I need one PCB for user interface (on the top) and a second to support the connectors through the back.

    Thanks!

  • 19" 1U Questions

Hello I'm designing a 19" 1U rack enclosure. I'd like it 11" deep. I have the front and back designed. I found a template zip that I think is what I need. I can't seem to get the depth of the side/top and bottom panel correct. When I may them longer I can't get the screw holes to move with it. I'm not 100% I have the correct template. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Construction Lines

I'm used to using construction lines as a way of lining up things so that they are straight. Is there a way to place construction lines?

If not, how do you set a hole or other object to exact coordinates?
