  • annoyance: edit box sizes

I guess this isn't a bug, but an annoyance. The edit boxes in some dialogs aren't wide enough.

I assume this would be in several places, but the one that "bugs" me most is in the "Move Selected Objects" dialog.

e.g. If I change the absolute X position to say 11.9500 inches, it's not too bad while still in the dialog (left-justified with the 4th decimal point half cut off); but if I reenter the dialog the X value appears as "1.9600" with the most significant digit completely cut off. You need to enter the edit box and scroll it over to see the most significant digit.

The edit boxes simply need to be a bit wider.

  • macro storage

    (1) in the new version where are the macro objects (files) I create stored on my computer by default so I can find them and back them up?

    (2) When you upgrade designer software from v4 to v4.01 does it erase the macro objects I previously created on the computer?

  • 2U Housing Profile Case

    Hello,

I am trying to design an enclosure that is a standard 2U rack mount size (with mounting ears).

Reading through the manual, I can't find the length of the housing bracket. Does it come in standard lengths, or do we need to specify it somewhere?

Also, if anyone already has a completed 2U enclosure which I could use as a template, it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Bergues - Einbaubuchse

Is the Bergues - Einbaubuchse a standard AC Inlet? It doesn't look exactly right and I don't know how to get the dimensions of the macro object to check.

  • Found 3 bugs

Bug #1: Your 'Search' in this forum does not work. If you click on the search icon in the upper right corner of this forum it will dump you to a blank page.

Bug #2: Where is the 8-32 tap? In the Drill Hole Properties dialog -> Thread -> UNC (Unified Coarse). The drop down list does not have a selection for #8-32. There is a selection for #8-24, which I assume is a typo as I can not find this size on any tap/drill chart.

Bug #3: Reference point of an object doesn't seem to work. Place three holes on a panel. Group all holes. Double Click the group to bring up the Group Properties dialog. Redefine the reference point of the group, either by clicking one of the corner radio buttons to the left or by selecting the reference point of an object. The 'new' reference point of the group turns red in the dialog and the 'new' cross hairs of the group reference point appear on the front panel, but you can't do anything with the 'new' group reference point.

For example, if I made the center point of one of the three holes in my group the 'new' reference point of the group and then try to align it to the horizontal and verical center of the panel, it moves the group with respect to the center point of the GROUP to the new location, instead of moving the group with respect to the center point of the referenced HOLE to the new location. It's as though the group center is ALWAYS the reference point, regardless of where the 'new' reference point is defined in the group.
