I would like to create a slightly non rectangular front panel shape. I've been looking into hand editing a .DXF, but haven't found any easy to follow examples. Could someone help me or suggest another way ?

Email us the .dxf file you have and we will try to help you.

I don't have a .dxf file - I was trying to find something simple to start from and use a text editor to get the right panel shape. The shape I need is almost rectangular, but slightly tapered at top. Base is 254 mm. Height 79 mm. The first 30mm of the sides go straight up, the remainder goes to the top and 2.5mm to the right, so that top edge of panel ends up being 249mm.
I tried attaching a .pdf with a sketch, but don't see it. Hopefully the description is good enough!

Send me the sketch as an attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will try to import it into our software.

Can someone help me figure out how to convert one of the attached DWG or DXF files into a cutout pattern for front panel designer?
I need to make a cutout that covers up all the LEDs around the b***ons.
The DWG file is located on this web page https://www.crystalfontz.com/product/cfa533tmikc-alphanumeric-lcd-display-16x2-i2c#datasheets
Attached File: CFA533_Family_HW_v1.1_2D_CAD.dxf

Please email me at email@example.com so I can respond back with the .dxf of the cutouts? It is much easier to correspond vs the forum.

Hi, sorry if its my bad, but I can't seem to find any info on postage / shipping?
Anyway, do you guys post to Australia (Sydney)?
And if so, could you give me a ballpark figure on how much that might cost?

The only way you can get an estimated shipping cost is thru our software. And since every package is different the costs can very. I would recommend you design the panel you need manufactured by us and go thru the ordering program and enter in your shipping information. Then select the method you would like from the drop down menu and the system will give you the cost based on your designs. If you have any other questions let us know.

Hi again Cam.
Should have added that we do ship to Australia.

Can you UV print on Perspex? Is it durable enough to handle regular finger touch action over a long period, or would it need to be printed in reverse on the back side? Can Perspex be printed on both sides? Is the printing cost affected by number of colors?

We just received our front panel in the mail and the quality of the machining and digital printing is absolutely perfect. We're in the process of developing general cleaning instructions for our system and we are wondering if it is ok to quickly wipe the anodized/printed aluminum surface clean with a 70% Isopropyl Alcohol solution? I believe the anodizing would be fine, so I am more concerned about whether or not the printing could hold up to the alcohol. If not, can you please provide other cleaning suggestions?

The alcohol will not affect the print so you can go ahead and clean it.

Hello all. We need to correct the last response.
After further review and discussion we do not recommend cleaning your printed panels with alcohol except for very rare occasions. It should not be done as a daily workflow routine because long term contact could affect the longevity and quality of the print.
We apologize for any confusion.

Thank you for the clarification. Would recommend a mild soapy water, then?
For future projects, does Front Panel Express offer any sort of coatings to increase the robustness of the anodized+printed panels? Perhaps a clearcoat of sorts?

Is there a way to put holes in the corners equidistant from the edges?
Posted By: David Clarke on Apr 27, 2017 04:46AM Category: Front Panel Designer
Depending on where your origin is all you have to do is to right click on the hole and select move. Then enter in the distance of x and y in the absolute portion of the pop up screen and the hole will be place equal distance on the x and y axis.
